The Coachman is a delightful recently restored 400 year old double fronted, three storey Cornish cottage. The Coachman is an ideal cottage for a large family or two families to share a memorable holiday together in Looe. Weekend offpeak breaks are also available, ideal for those special family occasions where you can all comfortably stay together in a wonderful setting. Set in the heart of East Looe, and only a few paces from the golden sandy beach and harbour,it retains a wealth of character and traditional features including original exposed beams, log burning fireplace, traditional wooden, tiled and slate floors, whilst offering high standards of modern comforts. Looe's award winning restaurants and traditional pubs are all within a short stroll of the cottage.



On entering The Coachman you are welcomed by a large open-plan ground floor. To your left is the comfortable dining area with feature brick fireplace, exposed beams and polished wooden floor. A huge dining table complete with lazy-susan and seating for 10 people provides a very sociable place for family feasts. A hi-fi is in the dining area with a collection of CD's for your use. There is also a bookcase containing a selection of books, videos, DVD's and board games for further entertainment WIFI from June 2017.

Next to the dining area is a fully fitted & well equipped kitchen with slate floor, modern units & plenty of preparation space. Stainless steel pans hanging from the beams and stainless accessories give a high quality feel to the kitchen. There is a stable door off the kitchen that opens onto the rear of the cottage.

Also on the ground floor is the very comfortable lounge area with exposed beams, polished wooden flooring and feature log burning stove with slate hearth. There are two large comfy sofas and a cane furniture set. The wide screen TV has Sky, DVD and video player. French doors open to the rear of the cottage to really take in that sea air.

Up the stairs on the first floor are two twin bedrooms. Both bedrooms have ample wardrobe and drawer space. Also on this floor is a bunk bedroom with single wardrobe containing various toys.  This floor has a luxury shower room with coordinating white suite, fully tiled floor, large corner shower, heated towel rail and vanity unit.

The second floor has two luxury bedrooms. The first bedroom which is dual aspect has a stunning vaulted ceiling, king sized sleigh bed, feature exposed beams, decorative fireplace, dressing table and double wardrobe. The other spacious bedroom has a feature metal-framed double bed, double wardrobe, chair and chest of drawers.

The luxury bathroom on this floor contains a coordinated white suite with roll top bath, separate large corner shower, heated towel rail, fully tiled floor and exposed beams.

Kitchen: Fully fitted and well equipped kitchen with slate floor, modern units and plenty of preparation space. Stainless accessories, hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, toaster and microwave are complemented by stainless saucepans hanging from the traditional beams.
Utility Room: Small utility area off the kitchen providing coat rails, storage for buckets and spades, washer/dryer, freezer and boiler.
Living Rooms: The dining area with the original fireplace, beams and wooden floor has a huge table which seats 10 and is perfect for family feasts. A Sony Hi-Fi with CD's provides background music, whilst a large bookcase provides a wide selection of books, videos and DVD's.
Other: The lounge area with original beams, wooden floor, feature wood-burner with slate hearth, large comfy sofas, colonial style wicker table and chairs has been tastefully decorated to make this a most appealing room. Widescreen TV, Sky freeview, video and DVD
Services Included/Cleaning/
Real fire(firewood not provided), central heating, house linen. Luxury bed linen provided in tariff and changed on a weekly basis. Cleaning on a weekly basis. Guests have emergency access to the property's manager. Towels are not provided.


Notes on accommodation
Suitable for family market. Smoke alarms, CO detector fitted to boiler, gas appliances tested annually.No smoking allowed. No pets allowed.

Unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs.

French doors open to rear of property where you can sit outside on the bench with a chilled glass of wine and watch the world go by.

Golf courses can be found in the local area.

Special interest holidays
Looe has a National shark fishing centre with boats available for charter. Looe also has its own sailing club and is host to various regattas throughout the year. The Eden Project is approx 30 min drive.

Nearest airport Plymouth 25 miles. Nearest Port Plymouth 20 miles. Looe train station is a 5 min walk from the cottage and links Looe to Liskeard (and the National network) via a lovely picturesque railway running along the river. Pay and display car parking is available (approx.15 to 24 per week depending on season) at the Millpond Car Park (5 minute walk) with luggage drop off at the property on arrival and departure.

The Eden Project, the amazing and successful attraction near St. Austell. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, these wonderful and diverse gardens lost after the First World War were rediscovered and restored to their former glory. Further details
Looe town centre is less than one minutes walk and has a large variety of local shops, fresh fish market, boutiques, supermarket, greengrocers, Post Office, restaurants, cafes, traditional pubs and a Tourist Office. Various high street banks can be found. The cottage contains a wide range of tourist information and leaflets for days out and other leisure activities. Various traditional pubs and restaurants less than a minuets walk away.

Booking notes
When making an enquiry for availability please give desired arrival and departure dates, number of adults and children staying, a telephone contact number and email address. When you wish to proceed, a booking form will be e-mailed or posted as required. A cheque deposit of 250 is due with the returned booking form to secure a reservation. The remainder of the balance is required 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. Please note we cannot accept large single sex groups or groups that are all under 25 years of age.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests must vacate the cottage by 10.00am on day of departure. Arrival is after 3.00pm to allow enough time to prepare the cottage to its highest standard. Changeover is flexible in low season subject to availability.


We are sorry but no pets are accepted at The Coachman.
